Pacer Amol Tanpure (6.1-1-13-6), who helped Police Gymkhana beat former champions Parsee Gymkhana in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/akash-hits-ton-as-kanga-kicks-in-23303474" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dr HD Kanga Cricket League</a> Division 'A' game at the Parsee Gym on Sunday, has revealed that he was a national-level javelin thrower.
Before Tanpure, 28, joined the police force in 2015, he had clinched nine medals for the State team.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I had a total of nine medals which included four golds at the state level. My best throw was 64 metres. But when I became policeman in 2018, I attended the cricket team selection trials at the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/pj-win-then-and-now-23243213" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Police Gymkhana</a> and started playing with our team,&rdquo; Tanpure told mid-day.com.&nbsp;
Riding on Tanpur's six-wicket haul, Police bowled out for Parsee Gymkhana for 84. In reply, Police declared their first innings at 85-8 with Yogesh Patil top-scoring with 40.
