Gujarat, a flourishing state of India, was shaken to its core on January 26, 2001, by a catastrophe known as the Gujarat Earthquake. This seismic calamity, which measured 7.7 on the Richter scale, had an indelible impact on the state and its people, permanently altering lives and landscapes.

The epicentre of the earthquake was near the town of Bhuj, and it caused severe destruction throughout multiple regions. The most affected areas were Bhuj, Anjar, and Ahmedabad. The vibrations were so intense that buildings toppled like a house of cards, leaving thousands homeless and many trapped beneath the wreckage.
