As India reported two cases of new COVID-19 variant Omicron, the Centre on Thursday informed that no severe symptoms of the new variant has been reported so far.
Addressing a media briefing Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal said that the WHO has been studying the emerging evidence of Omicron.
&ldquo;All Omicron related cases are found to have mild symptoms so far...In all such cases in the country and across the world so far, no severe symptom has been noted. World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that its emerging evidence is being studied,&rdquo; the Joint Secretary said.
&ldquo;No severe symptoms of the Omicron Variant of COVID-19 reported so far,&rdquo; he said. Lav Agarwal also stated that the passengers arriving from &lsquo;at risk&rsquo; countries need to undergo an RT-PCR on arrival.
India has reported two cases of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 in Karnataka. All primary and secondary contacts of the two infected persons from Karnataka have been identified.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, eight people travelling from &lsquo;at-risk&rsquo; countries, of which four tested positive, were admitted to Delhi&rsquo;s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital on Wednesday, said officials.
<h2>Omicron patient&rsquo;s 5 contacts positive</h2>
Bengaluru: Five contacts of a 46-year-old patient with Omicron in Bengaluru have also tested positive, said reports quoting BBMP chief Gaurav Gupta. Their samples have been sent for genome sequencing. The other patient is a South African national, and has left for Dubai.
