However, Shivaji Nagar and Chembur faced 'poor' air quality with AQI readings soaring to 222 and 263 respectively, indicating heightened pollution levels in these areas.

The air quality in Thane and Navi Mumbai were marked as 'poor' and 'moderate' respectively. While Thane registered an AQI of 226, Navi Mumbai's air was measured at an AQI of 178. Specific regions like Kalamboli and Sanpada encountered poor AQI levels of 268 and 211 respectively.

The AQI range delineates the severity of pollution levels, categorising from 'good' (0-100) to 'moderate' (100-200), 'poor' (200-300), 'very poor' (300-400), and 'severe' (400-500 or above).

The primary contributors to Mumbai's air pollution include waste burning, industrial activities, construction dust, and vehicle emissions, which release fine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) impacting respiratory health and causing cardiovascular issues.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated measures like emission limits on cars, regulations on construction dust, and the promotion of electric vehicles to combat pollution. Additionally, the Maharashtra government's "Clean Air Action Plan" targets pollution reduction from various sources.

The emitted particulate matter poses serious health risks, affecting the respiratory system and potentially leading to heart problems and other health issues.
