As per the IMD forecast, the city and suburbs will have generally cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rain at intervals for the next 24 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 30°C and 24°C respectively

In a post on X, the weather department said that Mumbai recorded moderate to heavy rainfall at most places in the last 24 hours

People were seen bearing umbrellas and clad in raincoats riding two-wheelers or afoot on streets amid the downpour. Those without an umbrella were see either seeking shelter or embracing the heavy showers

Additionally, high tides were observed on Friday at Gateway of India. The city will witness 22 days of high tide in the Arabian Sea during the four months of monsoon this year

The BMC, in its Mumbai weather update, further stated that the island city in the 24-hour period ending on Friday at 8 am recorded 66.53 mm of rainfall

It added that Eastern suburbs recorded 79.65 mm of rainfall while western suburbs recorded 59.42 mm of rainfall

The neighbouring districts of Thane and Palghar are also on yellow alert till July 2

The Met department has issued red alert for the coastal districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg till July 2
