A Mumbai-bound Vistara flight from Paris received a bomb threat after which a full emergency was declared at the city airport prior to its arrival in city, a source said, reported the PTI.
The flight had 306 persons onboard. It landed at around 10:19 am on Sunday, the source said.
Vistara on Sunday reported that its," flight UK 024 from Paris' Charles de Gualle airport to Mumbai received a hand written note on an airsickness bag threatening a bomb," said the source, as per the PTI.
Following the information, full emergency was declared at 10:08 am, as per the source, who added that the flight landed at 10:19 am.
"There were 294 passengers and 12 crew onboard the Paris-Mumbai flight," the source said, according to the PTI.
Vistara in a statement confirmed that "a security concern has been noted by our staff while onboard the airline's flight UK 024 operating from Paris to Mumbai on 2 June 2024."
Following the protocol, the airline immediately informed the relevant authorities, a Vistara spokesperson said in the statement.
It also said that the flight has landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai and the airline is fully cooperating with the security agencies for all the mandatory checks, the news agency reported on Sunda.
IndiGo's Varanasi-Delhi flight receives bomb threat; nothing suspicious found, say police
Meanwhile, in an another similar incident, an IndiGo flight from Varanasi to the national capital received a bomb threat on Saturday and all passengers safely disembarked from the aircraft after landing at the Delhi airport, the PTI reported on Saturday.
After a thorough checking, the police said it was a hoax call, officials said.
According a Delhi Police officer, at about 5.38 pm, a female caller telephonically informed the security staff of Delhi airport operator DIAL that her husband who is travelling from Varanasi to Delhi in an IndiGo flight is carrying a bomb in his handbag, according to the PTI.
"Accordingly, following standard security protocol, a thorough inspection was conducted and nothing suspicious was found," the officer said.
The officer further said that a detail interrogation of the concerned passenger, identified as Vimal Kumar, a resident of Meerut, was conducted.
Kumar stated that his wife had made a call after watching a news regarding a bomb in an aircraft four days days back as she is 'mentally unfit', the officer said, as per the PTI.
The police said that his claims are being verified and further legal action is underway.
In a statement, the airline said flight 6E 2232, operating from Varanasi to Delhi, had received a bomb threat.
"Upon landing in Delhi, the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines and the crew followed all standard operating procedures," it said.
According to the airline, all passengers have safely disembarked and the aircraft is currently undergoing inspection.
