A few days after Bollywood actor <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/bollywood-news/photo/shah-rukh-khan-and-salman-khan-twin-in-blue-as-they-wave-to-their-fans-on-the-occasion-of-eid-93315/1" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Salman Khan</a> was diagnosed with dengue, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/tilak-nagar-brihanmumbai-municipal-corporation-mhada-mumbai-chembur-residents-take-ill-owing-to-worm-infested-water-23239197" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation</a> (BMC) officials found two mosquito breeding spots in his apartment&rsquo;s compound. The BMC officials inspected the Galaxy Apartment along with a few other houses in the locality.
The BMC officials mentions that no aedes mosquito breeding spot was found inside the apartment.
Rajan Naringrekar, BMC&rsquo;s insecticide officer, said, &ldquo;While we found two mosquito breeding spots in the apartment&rsquo;s compound, there were no breeding spots inside his apartment. A fumigation drive was carried out after the inspection.&rdquo;

According to the insecticide officer, a larger drive was carried out across the city to detect mosquito breeding spots of dengue and malaria.
As per the BMC&rsquo;s epidemiology cell, 178 cases of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-doctors-sound-alarm-on-rising-dengue-cases-23251150" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">dengue</a> were reported in Mumbai till October 16 this month. So far, this year 746 dengue cases and two deaths have been logged in Mumbai.
BMC has no record of Salman Khan being diagnosed with dengue.
The BMC has advised citizens to take all precautionary measures to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
The advisory mentioned, &ldquo;Use of bed nets, window screens, and complete clothing wearing are advised to avoid mosquito bites. Citizens should prevent larva breeding by keeping the premises and surrounding area clean, clearing the odd articles such as tins, thermocol boxes, coconut shells, tires, unused articles, etc.&rdquo;
&ldquo;In most cases, mosquito breeding spots can be spotted on the tarpaulin sheets used during the monsoon season. The breeding spots can be found across the city,&rdquo; added Rajan.
Speaking about the precautionary measures, Dr Wasim Khot, consultant for infectious diseases at Global Hospital, said, "This mosquito favours clean, stagnant water for egg-laying. Once you locate these breeding grounds, eliminate them by properly discarding any items that can collect water. To stop mosquitoes from reproducing, people should put a lid on the water containers and utensils. Make sure that the water is flowing freely and that there is no waste clogging the drains."
Dr Khot, added, "People should assist the health officials in putting mosquito prevention measures in place. These modest preventive actions can aid in fending off the major bite. It's crucial to comprehend the illness and its complications in case you have malaria or dengue."
