<div dir="auto">A dentist based in Mumbai's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-social-media-influencer-arrested-for-stealing-follower-s-phones-23328353" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Malad suburb</strong></a> was booked for sexually abusing a minor and abetting her suicide.&nbsp;</div>

<div dir="auto">According to the police sources, the incident happened in Malad East's Kurar area. The minor, aged 17, was working as a compounder at the dentist's clinic; she ended her life in the clinic by hanging herself on December 28.</div>

<div dir="auto">The family alleged that the doctor used to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/sexual-crime-articles" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>sexually exploit and beat the girl</strong></a> and stopped her from talking to anyone else either in person or on the phone.&nbsp;</div>

<div dir="auto">Sources said that the girl's mental condition had deteriorated which likely pushed her to resort to such a grave measure.&nbsp;</div>

<div dir="auto">Based on a complaint of the family members, Kurar police registered a case on Thursday under the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/murdered-model-divya-pahuja-had-been-sextorting-killer-say-harayana-cops-23328312" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Indian Penal Code</strong></a> sections related to rape, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).&nbsp;</div>

<div dir="auto">An officer from Kurar police station said, no arrest has been made yet, investigation into the case is underway.</div>
