A missing man was found murdered after his dead body, tied to a stone, was recovered from a well in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-man-loses-rs-25-5-lakh-to-investment-fraud-in-thane-23332086" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra's Thane district</a>, an official said on Saturday, reported the PTI.
According to the news agency, the man identified as Chandraprakash Sureshchandra Lobanshi, 32, had been missing since January 20.
Locals at Davdi village in the Dombivali East area alerted the police after spotting a man's body in a well on Thursday, the police official said on Saturday.
The official said the body was tied to a stone and had wounds on the back and neck caused by sharp weapons. It was later identified as that of Lobanshi.
The Manpada <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-gang-luring-people-with-loans-under-pradhan-mantri-mudra-yojana-busted-10-held-by-andheri-police-23332080" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Police</a> in Dombivali area of Thane on Friday registered a murder case. Investigations are underway to identify those who committed the murder and the motive behind the crime, said the station house officer of the police station.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, the Bathinda Police in Punjab on Friday arrested two people for allegedly killing a friend and later hiding his body in a pit dug by them, the police said on Friday, the ANI reported.
The police said that the man was allegedly murdered over a dispute and both the suspects hid his body in a pit dug at a residence in Bathinda, according to the ANI.
The locals informed the local police when they witnessed foul smell began to trouble the locals in the locality. It was found that the odour had been emitting from a spot where the body was kept hidden, as per the ANI.
"The deceased, named Harshdeep (21) had been missing since January 17. In this case, an FIR was already registered with the Bathinda police and a probe was on. Meanwhile, the police were informed of the bad odour that started spreading in the locality where his body was disposed. On reaching the place, it was learned that the body was of the missing person," said Mohit Aggarwal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bathinda, the news agency reported on Friday.
"After we launched an investigation into the matter, we found that Harshdeep had been killed by his friend, Gurpinder aka Goldy. He killed him along with another friend named, Baljeet Singh, by strangulating him over a dispute. Later, the duo hid his body in a pit, which was already dug by him at his residence," DSP Aggarwal added, the ANI reported.
