A couple had a narrow escape when a car they were travelling in overturned on the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/eastern-express-highway-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Eastern Express Highway in Maharashtra</a>'s Thane district, civic officials said on Sunday, reported the PTI.
The accident took place at 10.25 pm on Saturday when the couple was returning home in Thane.
The car driver lost control over the wheels, following which the vehicle hit the road divider and overturned, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, as per the PTI.
The 57-year-old man and his wife aged 50 managed to come out of the vehicle which was severely damaged, the news agency reported on Sunday.
They did not receive any injury, the official said.
After being alerted, local firemen, regional disaster management cell team and traffic police rushed to the spot.
The car was later towed away from the highway after the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/Accident-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">accident</a>.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, two policemen were killed and over a dozen injured when the van in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding container truck from behind in Bihar's Gopalganj district on Sunday, police said, the PTI reported.
The incident took place near Barhima Bazar around noon when the police team was going to Supaul for the third phase of the Lok Sabha election duty.
"The van carrying policemen on election duty had halted near Barhima Bazar when a speeding container truck rammed into it from behind. Two policemen died on the spot and over a dozen sustained injuries, according to the PTI.
"All injured have been admitted to the nearest government hospital and their condition is reported to be stable. The container has been seized by the local police," a statement issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police of Gopalganj said, the news agency reported on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Ashok Kumar Uraon (resident of Punea) and Pawan Mahto (resident of Bettiah) both constables of Bihar Police.
"The driver of the container truck fled from the spot. Further investigation is on," said a local police officer, as per the PTI.
