The closing day of the Cannes 2024 Film Festival proved to be historic for India

The team of Payal Kapadia's 'All That We Imagine As Light' won India its first Grand Prix or the jury prize (Note: Chetan Anand's Neecha Nagar won the Grand Prix at the first edition of the festival in 1946 which is today's equivalent of Palme d'Or)

This marks Payal Kapadia's second win at Cannes. In 2021, her film 'A Night Of Knowing Nothing' had won the Best Documentary

Anasuya Sengupta, who hails from Kolkata, won Un Certain Regard Prize for Best Actress for her performance in The Shameless. Anasuya, with her win, has created history by becoming the first Indian to win the award
