Leadership training to head masters of BMC schools, skill development center in secondary schools (28.45cr), CCTV cameras to be installed to provide security to students, staff in all BMC school (Primary budget provision of 1 cr).

New health intiative - Arogyam Kutumbam
The initiative Arogyam Kutumbam, proposed for adopting strategies like community based early screening, increasing awareness, promoting health lifestyle and new treatment protocol.

BMC to introduce digital classroom programme
The BMC, in its Budget for FY 2023-24, has announced a digital classroom programme under which a systematic database of education curriculum will be created and classes and curricular activities will be carried out through LED smart boards.&nbsp;
It is pertinent to note that last year, the BMC had announced a 'Virtual Classroom' programme in its Budget with similar agenda. This project was backed by former cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray. However, the previous project was scrapped in the middle of the year and it appears that a similar proposal has been tabled by just changing the name.

Education projects which were in progress in 2022-23 will continue in FY 23-24. Including- one school each for IGCSE and IB board, a sports complex for western suburbs, establishment of 54 astronomical lab is in process and will be completed in FY 23-24

New works at civic hospitals
Process has been started to avail C.T. Scan &amp; M.R.I. facility through public private partnership project at Loknete Eknathrao Gaikwad Urban Health Center under Sion hospital at Dharavi.
Tender process has been initiated to procure advanced C.T.Scan machine each at KEM, Nair &amp; Sion at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore each alongwith 3-Tesla M.R.I. machines each at KEM, Nair &amp; Sion will be installed at the cost of Rs 25 crore each for providing advance tests to citizens at affordable price

Budget states that there will be more Charging Stations for Electric Vehicle in Public Parking Areas owned by BMC in 2023-24.

Rs 25 crore for mitigating air pollution
The BMC has earmarked Rs 25 crore for mitigating air pollution and sustainable waste management measures for FY 2023-24.

The civic body has planned to instal air purifiers in five most-crowded areas in the city -- Dahisar Toll &nbsp;Naka, Mulund Check Naka, Mankhurd, Kalanagar Junction and Haji Ali Junction.

Parking App
BMC has decided to develop a parking app by virtue of which all 32 public parking lots (PPL) off-street parking and 91 on-street parking places will be regulated due to which citizen will have better service. The app will help the citizen of Mumbai to pre-book parking slot, online payment etc.

Financial assistance to BEST Undertaking
Municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said that during the year 2022-23, a total amount of Rs 1382.28 crore is given as an advance to BEST Undertaking subject to State Government&rsquo;s decision to treat this amount as loan to BEST Undertaking. This amount includes Rs 482.28 crore to meet the cost of gratuity of Retired Employees, Rs 450 crore to meet the cost of various dues of retired employees and Rs 450 crore for repayment of short term loan taken by undertaking for daily operation.
"Furthermore, considering the importance of public transportation, a provision of Rs 800 crore is proposed in the Budget Estimate 2023-24 for assisting Undertaking, to support their functioning. I hope BEST will reach better financial position soon by improving on various parameters and also by structural reforms and reduced dependency on assistance from BMC in near future," he added.

Property Tax
In the financial year 2021-22, property tax has been collected in the same manner as in 2019-20 and the actual income from property tax was Rs 5207.99 crore. In the financial year 2022-23, revenue from property tax was estimated to be Rs 7000 crore which is revised to Rs 4800 crore, a fall by Rs 2200 crore. The actual income received upto December 31, 2022 is Rs 3174.46 crore.

The budget estimate for education for 2023-2024 has marginally reduced to Rs 3,347 crore as against last year&rsquo;s Rs 3,370 crore.

BMC presents annual Budget for FY 2023-24
Municipal commissioner and state-appointed administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal on Saturday tabled BMC's annual Budget for the FY 2023-24. The Budget estimates for the financial year 2023-24 are proposed at Rs 52,619.07 crore which exceeds the Budget estimates for 2022-23 by 14.52 per cent.

BMC Budget 2023: Time civic body looked beyond just roads

The Guardian Minister for Mumbai suburban district and BJP leader Mangal Prabhat Lodha also stressed cleaner air quality in the city and assured that the air quality will improve within a month. "The air quality of Mumbai has worsened and we cannot sit idle without doing anything. Within a month you will notice an improvement in the air quality. We have conducted many meetings with the BMC regarding this issue," Lodha told reporters.

10 percent increase in budget amount expected
Last year, the BMC budget was Rs 45,949 crore. Every year, there will be over 10 percent increase and it is expected to reach up to Rs 50,000 crores this year.
